Description
This project will construct a new concrete bridge across Lick Creek on Forest Road 39 (Hells Canyon Scenic Byway), a double-laned, paved road. Construction operations involve building a temporary bypass road (including repairing and placing a government-furnished temporary bridge), substructure (government design), and superstructure (contractor design). Specific details will be forthcoming, but operations shall also include removal and disposal of the existing timber bridge, concrete abutments, and a portion of the asphalt surfacing. Bridge construction will include pile abutments, riprap, concrete substructure, prestressed concrete superstructure, bridge and approach rail, and road/approach work. Traffic control, and temporary erosion control measures, and dewatering will also be required. The instream work work period is from July 15, 2005 through August 15, 2005, with construction to be completed prior to October 15, 2005. The anticipated price range is between $250,000 and $500,000. The government intends to advertise this contract during the winter months of 2004 to 2005. Because inclement weather is pending, it is recommended that all interested offorors visit the site in the near future. Forest Road 39 is currently open, but generally is closed due to snow by mid-to-late November. For additional information, contact Dana Taylor at (541) 523-1274.

Place of Performance
Address: Lick Creek Bridge is located approx. 25 miles from Joseph, Oregon at milepost 10.6 on the Wallowa Mountain Loop Road (Forest Road 39, also designated as the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway). The bridge is adjacent to Lick Creek Campground.,
