- Description
- PRISM System Re-Engineering and Enterprise Processing Model Development PRISM is an acronym standing for “Project to Re-engineer and Integrate Statistical Methodology and is basically a redesign of a processing system that will edit and Survey and Census data. The first use of the PRISM system was to edit and summarize the 2002 Census of Agriculture. The system will be re-engineered for the 2007 Census of Agriculture. PRISM is part of a larger model of our processing systems called the Enterprise Data Model. The contractor shall work with our IBM consultant, Sandra Tucker, to conceptually discuss and build on paper, an Enterprise data model that will make the most effective use of our Database Server Investments. The actual coding of the model into database objects will be performed by the Data Services Group. The contractor shall provide on-site consulting services, as described below, at 1400 Independence Ave., S.W, Washington, D.C. 20250. Five week-long engagements over the next 10-11 months are expected to complete the modeling effort. The first of these weeks will begin Monday, November 15, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. and would last through 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2004. The remainder of the these sessions will be held in: January 2005 (specific week to be determined by participants availability). March 2005 (specific week to be determined by participants availability). May 2005 (specific week to be determined by participants availability). July 2005 (specific week to be determined by participants availability). Task 1 The contractor shall participate in on-site meetings with the Data Services Group and the Application Development Branches in ITD to discuss the optimal use of data storage, retrieval and processing in a Sybase database, Redbrick database, and SAS processing environment on IBM p690 hardware executing AIX. Deliverable is in the form of a typed Microsoft Word electronic document written report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report shall be single spaced and include charts and drawings and shall not be over 100 pages in length. Task 2 The contractor shall participate in on-site information exchange meetings on the best way to develop an enterprise data model that covers current and historical farmer reported data, survey indications, and official published estimates. The Data Services Group will create and administer the Enterprise Database Model based on these technical meetings. Deliverable is in the form of a typed written Microsoft Word electronic report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report can be single spaced, can include charts and drawings and will not be over 100 pages in length. Task 3 The contractor will consult with the Data Services Group and provide expert assistance in reexamining the existing ELMO, census, survey, and estimates systems to align them with our enterprise data model. This alignment means that tables and columns within those tables may need to change their form, or tables may be added to a particular system so that common information is essentially identical between the affected systems. Deliverable is in the form of a written report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report can be single- or double-spaced, can include charts and drawings and will not be over 100 pages in length. Task 4 The contractor shall provide expertise and advice in the form of written recommendations for administering and maintaining very large real time Sybase databases in the IBM p690 environment utilizing AIX 5.x. Deliverable is in the form of a written report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report can be single- or double-spaced, can include charts and drawings and will not be over 100 pages in length. Task 5 The contractor shall provide expertise and advice in the form of written electronic recommendations single spaced in Microsoft Word format, into upcoming features in future releases of Sybase and how to take advantage of their interaction and interconnections with Redbrick and SAS. Deliverable is in the form of a written electronic report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report can be single-spaced, can include charts and drawings and will not be over 100 pages in length. Task 6 The contractor shall participate in on-site meetings with Data Services Group and provide expertise and advice in the form of written recommendations regarding the development of an edit, imputation, and analysis processing system to process the 2007 Census of Agriculture. Deliverable is in the form of a written electronic report due 2 weeks from the end of each week-long engagement. The report can be single- or double-spaced, can include charts and drawings and will not be over 100 pages in length.
