Description
Contractor shall provide materials, tools, labor and supervision to replace the existing slate roof and metal gutters/flashing at the VA Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C. Project 565-05-102. Work will be performed on the main building #1 at the VA Medical Center located in Fayetteville, N.C. The slate roof is a 7 on 12 pitch, and is on the 7th and 8th floor levels. All work shall be performed in accordance with the drawings and specifications as well as OHSA and EPA requirements. Work will include but not limited to the following items: (1) removal of roof slate in order to replace approximately 1,700 linear feet of copper linings in built-in gutters, which will require removal of gutter outlets (2) replacement of copper flashing (3) replacement of water damaged wood decking (4) purchase and replacement of damaged and/or missing slate. Caulking of exposed joints in stone. Slate shall be obtained from Buckingham-Virginia Slate Corporation in order to match existing slate. All work will be performed in accordance with contract specifications and drawings. Estimated construction cost is between $500,001-$1,000,000. This procurement is 100% set-aside for SERVICE-DISABLED VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. Bids from other than service-disable veteran-owned small business concerns will not be considered and shall be rejected. Definition as used in this provision: ?Service-disabled veteran-owned small business concern?-(1) means a small business concern-(i) not less than 51 percent of which is owned by one or more service-disabled veterans or, in the case of any publicly owned business, not less than 51 percent of the stock of which is owned by one or more service-disabled veterans; and (ii) the management and daily business operations of which are controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans or, in the case of a veteran with permanent and severe disability, the spouse or permanent caregiver of such veteran. (2) Service-disabled veteran means a veteran, as defined in 38 U.S.C. 101 (2), with a disability that is service-connected, as defined in 38 U.S.C. 101 (16). NAICS 238160 with a small business size standard of $12 million applies to this procurement. The solicitation will be made available on or about November 16, 2004 in electronic form at the Business Opportunities Website www.bos.oamm.va.gov. Any amendments issued to this solicitation will be posted on the website. Bidders are advised that they are responsible for obtaining any and all amendments. A paper solicitation will not be issued. Requests for drawings must be in writing to the Contracting Officer. Fax requests will be accepted at (910) 482-5226. Electronic Bids are not acceptable.
