Description
NAICS Code: 541710 THIS IS A POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STUDENT LABORATORY SERVICES TO BE HIRED ON A CONTRACT BASIS BY THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. The solicitation number is XN0209. The Agency has a requirement for a student to work within a multi-disciplinary research team and provide technical laboratory support for research projects that characterize the effects of chemical contaminants on aquatic organisms. The projects for which the student contractor is needed involve understanding the effects of chemicals on amphibian reproduction. The student will be expected to assist in general laboratory activities such as, cleaning of laboratory glassware, preparation of common reagents, maintenance of amphibian cultures, and conducting routine bioassays with amphibians species. All samples shall be prepared according to the technical requirements as specified in MED protocols or instructions provided by their mentor. The student contractor must be working toward, or recently completed a degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, ecology, toxicology, or environmental sciences within the past year, or be a graduate student in a relevant area of study at an accredited college/university. The student must be familiar with basic laboratory health and safety. The student will be given additional safety training at the Mid-Continent Ecology Division.
