- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head, MD intends to award a Sole Source Contract to Alliant Techsystems for Nitroglycerine (NG) optimization and testing of the Tomahawk Cruise Missile propellant. The procurement will consist of manufacturing and testing of MK 75 Gas Generators. Government supplied casting powder will be cast into six preliminary gas generator grains having various percentages of NG added, grains will undergo properties testing and optimal NG percentage will be calculated. Finally, eight grains will be cast using the optimized NG level and undergo final testing. Alliant Techsystems will manufacture a total of 14 gas generators during the process. Test reports will be submitted at the completion of the preliminary and final test firings. Alliant Techsystems is the only qualified source to perform this optimization and testing, as they are the only qualified producer of the MK 75 Gas Generator.
