Description
NASA/ARC plans to issue a request for proposal for Phase II of the Seismic Rehabilitation to N202.The work includes Seismic upgrade of Building N202; add seismic bracing (suspension wires and compression struts) as required for new facilities to for all suspended ceiling areas of the basement, first floor and second floor of Building N202. Ceiling tiles with high recycled content are to be used. Modify existing and provide new lighting as required to better serve current uses within Building N202. Reinstall existing exit signs and smoke detectors in the ceilings being altered. Separate potentially hazardous mechanical equipment/boiler rooms from exit access areas with new fire rated wall and door assemblies. Restore finishes, including handrails and guardrails disrupted by the Phase 1 demolition and new construction. The restored finishes are to complement the original character of the building. The new finishes are to avoid trendy design features that may detract from the appearance in the future. Modify the east stair from the basement to the first floor to provide fire rated enclosure at the basement level and remove existing walls of the stair at the first floor level to give the stair an open feeling at the first floor level. Incorporate return air ducting for basement level through the fire rated basement stair landing to the abutting mechanical/electrical room. At Second Floor Room 205 break area provide new base cabinets, wall cabinets, countertop and sink to replace casework removed to accommodate construction of new second floor concrete shear wall. The concrete shear wall is to receive metal stud and gypsum board furring to accommodate electrical conduits and plumbing required for the replacement casework. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $250,000-$500,000 and the effort shall be completed within 180 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is 100% set-aside for HUBZone businesses. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 236220 and 28.5M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about November 29,2004 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about January 4,2005. The firm date for receipt of bids or proposals will be stated in the RFP. Drawings and Specification will only be available on CD-ROM. All request for copies shall be made by email to Ameka.A.Chapman@nasa.gov. The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement (with the exception of teh specifications and drawings) will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accressed using a WWW browser application. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. The Government will make award based upon a best value analysis with price and technical evaluation factors as stated in the solicitation. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the amendments (if any). Accordingly, offerors or quoters are urged and expected to inspect the site where the work will be performed.
