Description
The Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna Site located in New Cumberland, PA has a requirement for 5000 each toteboxes. The totebox covered by this specification is an open top container designed for transporting packages on various types of conveyors whereon they are subject to contact with powered steel rollers and diverters, and impact with totebox stops, other totes, platform trucks, tote carts, and other vehicles within the Eastern Distribution Center (EDC). 5,000 (ea.) totes shall be equipped with identification tabs (barcoded labels, four (4) per tote), which allow the toteboxes to be directed and guided around the conveyor circuits automatically by scanner controls. Tote shall be injection-molded using an existing government-owned single cavity injection mold, which was fabricated to manufacture the existing totes for the EDC. The mold is stored at DDSP in New Cumberland, Pa. It will be the responsibility of the Government to transport the mold to the place of manufacture, and then back to DDSP after the totes have been made. The packing crate for the mold is reusable, and the Gov?t expects this to be used for the return trip. While in the possession of the contractor, liability for any damage to the mold will belong to the contractor. The mold is considered to be in the possession of the contractor from the time it is received from DDSP until it is returned. The mold is valued at approximately $110,000.00. The totebox bottom shall be rigid with a smooth flat surface on the outside. Flatness of the bottom shall vary not more than 1/32 inch in a downward (convex) direction or 1/16 inch in an upward (concave) direction when viewed from the outside.
