Description

PRESOLICITATION NOTICE ONLY. Actual solicitation will be issued at a later date. Rate Gyroscope Assembly, NSN 1015-01-076-6742; P/N 12283116 is a critical electro-mechanical component of the M1 Tank. The primary function of this device is to sense motion and to translate this motion into electrical signals that are utilized at the hig her assemblies for azimuth, elevation, and turret stabilization. The tank rate gyroscope is an application specific device that is designed to function in extreme environments. These features set this device apart from commercial gryoscopes that are not intended for military use. Gyroscope is specification controlled. Suggested source is BAE Systems Inertial Products Inc. This solicitation is a full and open competition for a 3-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The anticipa ted maximum ordering quantity over the life of the contract is 900 each. This is a Best Value procurement with past performance and price as the evaluating factors. A First Article Test (FAT) is required 240 days after award of contract. The Government may consider waiving FAT for contractors that have previously produced this item. If FAT is required, deliveries will commence 120 days after FAT has been approved. FOB DESTINATION. Estimated issue date is 17 Dec 2004. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501 and 5.102, therefore, hardcopies will not be provided. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above Internet address in order to obtain any said amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal nonresponsive and result in the rejection of the same.
