Description
NASA/GRC has a requirement for EMI/EMC Simulation Software. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial item(s) prepared in accordance with the format in FAR part 12, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) set forth in FAR Part 13. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This notice is being issued as a Request for Offer (RFO) for EMI/EMC Simulation Software as follows: Software requirements: The software should be capable of simulating the transmission of microwave radiation within waveguide components and subsequent propagation of radiation into cavities and the ambient. The software should be able to predict spatial distribution of radiated powers near and downstream of slotted antennas, horns and dipole antennas. The software will also be used to minimize reflection and losses. Losses associated with material composition of various waveguide components or interaction structures should also be addressable with the code. The software should also be capable of calculating phase array problems. Compatibility with magnetic field solver software is also important especially when dealing with ferrites (circulators, isolators). More specifically, the code should: GUI (graphical user interface) Ease of model entry, making modifications as well as interpreting results is a key consideration. A high fidelity GUI is necessary to achieve this end. We therefore require: - CAD like drawing front end - Import/Export capability structures in SAT and optional STEP, IGES, STL, DXF formats - Import options for CATIA4?, Pro/E?, CoventorWare, Gerber, GDSII Suites, and Agilent ADS file formats - Fully automated model meshing for analysis; no manual meshing required. - User defined structures can be incorporated via macros with a (VBA)--design the structure once, then instantly modify the design by changing a simple variable - Intuitive interface to create models and simulate in short turn-arounds - AutoCAD-compatible, fully integrated ACIS solid modeler include: - unlimited undo/redo - multiple object unite, subtract, intersect - dynamic geometry rotation - point-and-click object selection/shading - 2D object sweep along 3D polylines - macro recording/scripting - parameterized macros for tapered helices, cylinders, and boxes - "true-surface" geometry capability 3D EM Analysis solver capabilities - Transient Solver for time-domain analysis based on Finite Integral (FI) Technique - Eigenmode Solver included for high-Q structures - Frequency Domain Solver with Periodic and Floquet Mode boundaries Model Stimulation Methods - Waveguide ports (field ports) - Linear, circular, and elliptically polarized plane waves for RCS and antenna simulations - Ideal wire ports (power, voltage or current ports) Output Data and Plots - Generalized or renormalized S-parameters for single and multiple modes; - post processing which allows output, optimization, or parameters sweeps on results such as far field quantities, port impedances, and user defined results. - Smith chart and cartesian plots for graphical structure response - Port impedances and propagation constants for multiple transmission modes - Transient time-domain inputs and outputs at designated ports - Time and frequency domain sense "probe" points to detect and display time and frequency domain fields (including far field) at any number of locations (directions) in a structure - 3D and contour plane plots for E field, H field, Current, and Power flow displays. Animation of field quantities provide valuable insight into structure behavior - Far-field radiation pattern plots and pattern cuts for user-selectable polarizations (RHP, LHP, theta/phi, X/Y/Z, etc.) and coordinate systems (spherical, Ludwig 2 Az/El, Ludwig 2 El/Az, and Ludwig 3) - Distributed computing to speed multiport simulations, parameters sweeps, and optimizations - Frequency dependent material models and material libraries - Multiple port/multiple signal excitations and eye diagrams for SI studies. - Lumped element circuits including diode models at any point location on a wire - Perfect Boundary Approximation (PBA) technique capable - Automated parametric optimization of structures--including user-defined optimization functions - Parameter sweep analysis to investigate structure response changes with respect to controlled geometry changes - Transmission Line and Broadband (Model Order Reduction) SPICE models Advanced Materials The comprehensive materials database contains permittivity, permeability, electric and magnetic loss tangents for common substances. Includes: homogeneous, inhomogeneous, anisotropic, conductive, resistive, and semiconductor materials in the simulation. The software should also include ferrite modeling capability for nonreciprocal devices. A ferrite may have uniform static magnetic bias or, as an additional option, users may first perform a magnetostatic FEM solution using a compatible magnetic field code. Model Library A macro library should include standard shapes such as: ? Microstrip T junctions ? Broadside coupled lines ? Mitered and unmitered bends ? Radial and asymmetric bends ? Coax line for prescribed Z o ? Round and square spiral ? Magic T ? Patch antennas ? Helix geometries ? Calculate antenna metrics such as gain, directivity, far-field pattern cuts, far-field 3D plots, and 3dB beamwidth. ? Plot polarization behavior including spherical field components, circular polarization field components, Ludwig's third definition field components, and axial ratio. ? Model half, quarter, or octet symmetry and automatically calculate far-field patterns. ? Wideband Fast Frequency Sweep capability ? Generate spectacular animations for any field plot type including vector, contour, or shaded contour. ? Post static and animated plots on any surface including multiple faces of objects, cut-planes, 3D object surfaces and on 3D iso-surfaces. ? Animate vector fields, scalar fields or any derived quantity using the field calculator. Dynamic surface animation show allow plots to step through rotations and displacement. User should be able to see field behavior and rotate the geometry in real-time with virtually instantaneous plot updates. Field Calculator required For computation of complex arithmetic, trigonometric functions, surface and volume integrations, computation of tangents to curved lines, and normals to any curved surface ;to calculate metrics like power dissipation, stored energy, and cavity Q. Delivery shall be FOB Destination to NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, Cleveland OH 44135. Offers for the item(s) described above are due by December 8, 2004, 4:30p.m. GRC local time and may be mailed to NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, MS 500-305, Cleveland, OH 44135, and include, solicitation number, FOB destination to this Center, proposed delivery schedule, discount/payment terms, warranty duration (if applicable), Cage Code, taxpayer identification number (TIN) and other Representations and Certifications (52.212-3), identification of any special commercial terms, description of items offered per FAR 52.212-1-Instructions to Offerors-Commercial Items and as modified, and be signed by an authorized company representative.
