Description

The Coast Guard intends to procure on a sole source basis, NLETS User Fees and Line Charges for a base period from 1 February 2005 through 31 January 2006, and two (2) 12-month option periods to follow. The National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) is a sophisticated computer-controlled message switching network, linking local state, and federal agencies together for the purpose of information exchange. It is the only national system which provides state and local law enforcement with the capability to exchange free-form criminal justice related information interstate. The system is operated and controlled by the states. Every state is a member. NLETS provides the U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement units with a centralized access to Federal, State, and Local law enforcement databases. The service is part of an existing Coast Guard MISLE system. NLETS is currently the only approved network of its kind to provide information from the states. The alternative would be to set up communications and database protocols with every federal, state, and local law enforcement agency. Other firms who can furnish these user fees and line charges are invited to submit clear and convincing data substantiating their capability to furnish the entire requirement. Vendors failing to provide complete information for an accurate comparision will not be considered.
