- Description
- Contracting Office Address: AURA-Gemini Observatory, 950 N. Cherry Ave., Tuscon, AZ 85719. The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA), acting as the operator of the Gemini Observatory, is seeking a vendor to provide the EPICS software for the Adaptive Optics Slow FOcus Sensor (AO SFO) System, which will be implemented on both the Gemini North and Gemini South Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics systems. Each Adaptive Optics Slow Focus Sensor System will consist of a digital camera, readout electronics, computer hardware and software and will measure and compute the absolute focus error on a natural guide star; the focus information derived from a laser guide star being not reliable due to the varying altitude of the sodium layer. The sensor has been selected (Apogee Alta E57+) and will be provided to the Vendor by AURA. The software will be installed into a PC based computer provided by AURA which runs Linux and EPICS. The full requirements for this procurement, and instructions for submitting a proposal, will be given in a Request for Proposal to be released in the near future. Firms that are interested in receiving this Request for Proposal should email a letter of interest to Andrew Flach at aflach@gemini.edu by no later than Thursday 9 December 2004. This letter of interest should reference RFP No. N241918 in the subject line and in the body of the email give the name, address, email address, phone number, and fax number of a contact person at your firm. Point of Contact: Andrew Flach, Gemini Contracts Manager, Phone (520) 318-8410, Fax (520) 318-8590, Email aflach@gemini.edu
