Description

DESC: 1240 01 483 6103, Part Number 12984713, The item to procure is a M137A2 PANORAMIC TELESCOPE. IT IS THE BASIC INSTRUMENT USED IN LAYING THE M119A2 HOWITZER IN AZIMUTH. THE INSTRUMENT IS A 4-POWER, FIXED-FOCUS TELESCOPE WITH A 10 DEGREE FIELD OF VIEW. IT IS MOUNTED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HOWITZER USING THE M187A1 TELESCOPE MOUNT. THE DIVICE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 16 5/8 POUNDS, IS APPROXIMATELY 16 ? INCHES HIGH, 8 ? INCHES WIDE AND 10 INCHES LONG. CONSTRUCTION CONSISTS PRIMARILY OF SEVERAL CAST HOUSINGS WITH PRECISION MACHINED GEARS, SPLINES, WORM, WORM WHEEL, COUNTERS AND CLUTCHES. ADDITIONALLY, LENSES, PRISMS, WINDOWS AND RETICLE ARE INCLUDED IN THE OPTICAL TRAIN. THE RETICLE AND COUNTERS ARE ILLUMINATED FOR NIGHT OPERATION. ASSEMBLY RE QUIRES EXPERTISE IN FITTING OF PARTS, SELECTIVE PART SELECTION AND USE OF MATCHED PARTS SETS. FOB is Destination. For use on the M119 HOWITZER. Estimated issue date is 01/04/05. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.50 2 and 5.102, therefore, hardcopies will not be provided. CAUTION: This so licitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto.
