Description
The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC), San Diego, intends to procure a dual-frequency, PC-based acoustic imaging sonar system for installation aboard U.S. submarines. Included in the requirement will be two software seats/licenses for the operation of the system plus training for two people. The system will be procured on an other than full and open competition basis from Colmek Systems Engineering, Salt Lake City, UT. The CodaOctopus, LTD Echoscope V2 Acoustic Imaging Sonar is the only manufactured instrument that meets the physical, mechanical, and operational requirements for installation on top of the sail aboard U.S. submarines. The physical characteristics are the size of the external components that have to be mounted to the sail, where the space available for components is extremely limited. The mechanical characteristics include "off-the-shelf" component configuration that makes adaptation for installation reasonable. The operational character! istics that are unique include dual-frequency operation of the sonar as well as a software package capable of displaying 3D images real-time. A firm fixed price purchase order is anticipted with a six month delivery date. Commercial procedures are being used. RFQ N00244-05-T-0177 will be issued about 8 December 2004 and will close about 22 December 2004 at 1pm. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to meet the specification requirements stated above and in the RFQ. All proposals received before the closing date of the RFQ will be considered by the Government for the purposes of determining whether to compete the requirement.
