- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase Mouse Breeding Services from Taconic Farms Inc., 273 Hover Ave., Germantown, NY 12526. The services included are: Intermate different congenic muscarinic receptor single KO mice (on a C57BL/6NTac background) to generate 4 strains of muscarinic receptor double receptor KO mice on a ?pure? C57BL/6NTac background: M1/M3 receptor double KO mice; M2/M3 receptor double KO mice; M1/M4 receptor double KO mice; and M2/M4 receptor double KO mice. A Statement of Work describing the services in detail will be provided as part of the Request for Quote package. The Institute intends to obtain this service by other than full and open competition from Taconic Farms. To the best of the Governments knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source with specific mouse breeding that have mice that are pathogenic free and been deposited and rederived in accordance with NIH Interagency Animal Model Committee and sanctioned for use by NIDDK. If a mouse breeder is to perform the described services, the mouse lines would first need to be deposited and rederived (cesarean section) to ensure that all mice are absolutely pathogen-free. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be within the Simplified Acquisition Threshold for Commercial purchases up to 5 million dollars. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-05-381 will be available fifteen (15) days after the release of the RFQ. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is January 11, 2005. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 774C, Bethesda, MD 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun.
