- The Office of the Product Manager Crew Served Weapons at the Armament Research Development and Engineering Center, Picatinny, NJ is investigating and is currently seeking sources for the availability of a non-developmental short- range anti-personnel shotgun type rifle grenade cartridge that is compatible with the M4/M16 rifle systems. The rifle grenade cartridge must be a muzzle launched system that uses standard combat ammunition. It will be used in crowd suppression in urban areas. It is intended for brief, short range firefights with restricted fields of fire. The cartridge must be fired quickly and not require an adapter for use. The cartridge must be able to demonstrate a lethal anti-personnel capability against multiple targets out to a maximum range of 50 meters. It must be compatible with all currently used mounted accessories such as sights, rail systems, and optics. The cartridge shall not degrade the weapon performance or the useful life of the weapons. It will not necessitate additional manpower requirements for use in the field. All responsible, interested sources are encouraged to submit capabilities data. The literature received from interested candidates shall describe its physical and functional characteristics. If sufficient and credible interest is generated, a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) or Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP) may follow. Request that any prospective offerors submit their literature not to exceed 25 pages within thirty days from the date of publication of this notice. This is a market survey for informational and planning purposes only and should not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or a commitment by the U.S. Government.
