Description
HARDWARE ENVIRONMENT The hardware architecture for MODS consists of an Enterprise and Internet architecture. The central host for the MODS hardware environment is the IBM Z800 Mainframe with ZOS. The DB2/ZOS v7 database, the transaction processing using CICS, the reports sys tem using TSO, and the communications protocols for the various networking environments reside on this Enterprise Server. There is a collection of equipment to support the communications connections including an IBM Open Systems Adaptor, an IBM 3172, seve ral IBM 3174's, several Cisco routers, Ethernet hubs and switches, digital telecom switches, a bank of modems, and several CSU/DSU's. The Internet portion of MODS is a collection of servers operating under a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Security Schema. There is a Dell/EMC Storage Area Network in use that is the primary storage location for all clustered database server devices a nd other data. All the MODS Active Directory Servers are all Windows Server 2003. The MODS Database Servers are Windows Server 2000 Enterprise with SQL Server 2000 installed. Our database servers are clustered using Microsoft Cluster Services, with the s hared data residing on the SAN for failover capability. The MODS FTP Server is Windows Server 2003. All the MODS Web Servers are Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6). The web servers are load-balanced with Microsoft Application Center. The web servers are also loaded with the .Net framework. MODS hosts a mix of ASP and ASP.Net applications, as well as .Net Web Services on the server clusters. ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENT The MODS Enterprise Software environment consists of a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and application source code. The application source code includes interactive transaction processing using CICS and TSO interfaces for standard and ad-hoc report generation. Middleware applications allow for real-time updates, additions, deletions, and queries to be processed through the stored procedures, EXCI calls, RPCs and dynamic SQL. Access Security for both the Enterprise and mainframe-based web ap plications is controlled via Logon ID and password. Access via the Internet is secured through 128-bit encryption. SOURCE CODE The MODS source code is comprised of COBOL II, CICS (including Shadow Direct RPCs, Structured Query Language and DB2 External & SQL Stored Procedures), JCL, CLISTS, ISPF Panels, ISP Skeletons, CICS Basic Mapping Support (BMS), FOCUS, and SAS. RFI DUE DATE EXTENSION Due to additional information posted on 8 and 10 December 2004, the RFI white paper due date is now extended to COB on 3 January 2005.
