Description
The Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is planning to embark on a new tuberculosis treatment trial, “Evaluation of a Moxifloxacin-Based, Isoniazid-Sparing Regimen for Tuberculosis Treatment (TBTC Study 28).” The primary objective of this Phase 2 clinical trial is to compare the safety and antimicrobial activity of a moxifloxacin-containing regimen (moxifloxacin, rifampin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol [MRZE]) in which moxifloxacin has been substituted for isoniazid, to the standard control regimen (isoniazid, rifampin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol [HRZE]) in the first two months of treatment of sputum smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis. The purpose of this procurement is to obtain the services of the vendor who can deliver active isoniazid and identically matching placebo tablets in the appropriate quantity, dosage per tablet, and quality precisely necessary for this double-blind clinical trial. Solicitation package issued under number MLM0000HCK4-2005-16984 including a detailed statement of work will be available on or about December 28, 2004. Simplified Acquisition Procedures requiring written quotations will be utilized. This requirement is a 100% small business set-aside in accordance with FAR 19.502-2(a).
