Description

This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract on a Sole Source basis to Benthos, 49 Edgerton Drive, North Falmouth, MA 02556-2826 for the following item: Model 867-A Shallow Water Transponding release - Quantity 6 each. The Government plans to issue a request for written quote on or about 2004 Dec 21 to Benthos using FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. The anticipated award date is 2005 January 12. This action is being processed on a Sole Source basis to ensure interfacing requirements are met among old and new units. The Benthos deck units are not compatible with other manufacturer?s transponders. To attempt to use another Company?s transponder products would require the Government to purchase another deck unit, thereby resulting in a duplication of previously expended costs and a reduction in compatibility. Any Company that believes it has the capability to meet the Government?s minimum requirements is invited to submit a quote for Government evaluation. All proposals from responsible sources will be considered. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form.
