This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the NSWC Division Crane." MARKET SURVEY ? SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS: The Government is issuing this sources-sought announcement as part of a market survey for a .50 caliber machinegun with fixed headspace. Other salient characteristics that are sought are: (1) Rate of fire ?450 to 600 RPM; (2) Weight ? Not More than 84 lbs (3) Barrel Life ? Match or Exceed the current M2HB barrel life (4) Mount ? Operates reliably in a MK93 soft mount: (5) Gaugeless ? all barrels can be inserted and used without the requirement of checking the headspace. (6) Barrel Handle ? a hot barrel can be replaced using the attached barrel handle. (7) Ammunition ? Must be able to reliably function with the current DOD inventory of, 50-caliber ammunition. (8) Environmental Performance ?The weapon sought must operate in all Special Operations Forces environments, which also requires an enhanced coating to prevent rust when exposed to extended periods of on board ship environment. Any responses to this notice should include the fo! llowing: company name, brief description of company/capabilities, experience areas, history. Respondents are requested to provide pricing and availability information for the following quantities: 100-1000, 1001-5000. A respondent to this market survey must have available a majority of the skills and facilities that are required to manufacture the machinegun. If a respondent does not have adequate resources (technical, manufacturing, personnel, etc) available, the respondent must be able to demonstrate the ability to obtain those resources in a timely fashion. Interested companies who feel they possess the necessary capabilities should respond by providing the Government the following information; point of contact, address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, duns number, cage code and/or tax ID number, as well as size category (large/small disadvantaged, etc) a brief summary of the company's capabilities, description of facilities, personnel, related manufacturin! g experience, and existing safety approvals. Also provide any supporting information such as commercial literature, catalogues, manuals, etc. If a respondent chooses to utilize the services of sub-tier vendors or subcontractors, those vendors or subcontractors must meet these criteria.
