- This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood the FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. The following is a synopsis for commercial items prepared in accordance with Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and supplemental information included in this notice. The quotation number is N00178-05-Q-1066 and is a request for quotation. This announcement constitutes the only quotation being issued. A written quotation will not be issued. All interested parties shall indicate their interest and capability with their fax quote at (540) 653-7088 or and email address: xds11@nswc.navy.mil and shall be! considered by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren VA 22448-5100. All offerors must be advised that they must be active in the Central Contractor Registration database at http://www.ccr.gov before award can be made. The Government intends to procure, on a Sole-Source basis to United Defense LP 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis MN, the following: A. Fabrication of components and assembly of one (1) VLS Dog-Down Fixture Assembly to be used for testing. The assembly is to be built according to a Canister Shock Fixture drawing package, available upon request by United Defense, L.P. The basis of the sole source award is that United Defense, LP is the MK41 Vertical Launching System Mechanical Design Agent currently under contract to build Vertical Launching System (VLS) canisters and module mechanical components. UDLP is the sole source for the MK41 VLS canisters and module structural components currently in production for t! he US Navy. The requested Canister Shock Fixture assembly is a highly detailed mechanism that mates VLS canisters to the VLS module. It utilizes many of the same components that UDLP currently provides as part of the VLS module canister dog-down components used in current VLS production. UDLP also plans to reuse some of these VLS components from existing structures to save schedule time to deliver the assembly as well as lower the overall cost of the item. UDLP is also a current member of the design team evaluating the WOX design and is already familiar with the item and fabrication requirements. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 331221 with a size standard of 1000 employees. The contract shall be a firm fixed price order. Delivery shall be made within sixteen (16) weeks of award to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, Virginia, 22448. FOB Destination Shall apply.
