Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Program Manager for Ammunition, desires the acquisition and qualification of non-development improvement to the existing 7.62MM training ammunition inventory. The 7.62MM REHA shall replace the lead core projectile and utilize a non-toxic lead free primer. The ammunition shall meet the performance requirements called out in specifications MIL-C-46931 for the REHA-Ball and MIL-C-46281 for the REHA-Tracer and must be fully functional without degradation in safety and performance, in the M240G 7.62MM Machine Gun. The expected annual requirement will be approximately 14 million rounds and the lead time will be approximately 13 months. The contractor must have the capability to meet all U. S. Government and Military storage requirements/ restrictions imposed on storage of similar munitions; have existing production tooling/line capable of producing Low Rate Initial production (LRIP) quantities of the 7.62MM REHA; must have the technical expertise and facilities to conduct standard NATO safety, Insensitive Munitions (IM), transportation, hazard classification, environmental and HERO/ESD tests prior to delivery of qualification samples (as applicable). If not located in CONUS, the contractor must be willing to transition the REHA design to a CONUS based Load, Assembly and Pack (LAP) facility and provide a summary plan for US based production.
