Description

The TSA intends to negotiate separate single-source contracts with InVision Technologies and L-3 Communications Corporation for maintenance of Government owned and/or operated Explosive Detection System (EDS) and Threat Image Projection (TIP) Ready X-ray (TRX) equipment. The purpose of this work is to perform both corrective and preventive maintenance for the identified equipment. TSA is negotiating single-source contracts because only these two vendors, InVision Technologies (of Newark, CA) and L-3 Communications (of St. Petersburg, FL) can perform the subject work. Both vendors are the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for the Government owned EDS and TRX equipment. Only the OEMs for this equipment have the requisite expertise to perform the work. The OEMs have been performing this maintenance work for the past two years. TSA anticipates award of a five year maintenance contract to each vendor. Each contract will have a one year base and four one-year options. The anticipated award date for these contracts is February 2005.
