Description
PM Mortars is seeking information regarding development / production of an accurate, small, lightweight, rugged, low cost Pointing Device (PD) for use with dismounted mortar weapons (120mm, 81mm, 60mm). The PD will determine the weapons' true tube azimuth and elevation. Current mortar weapon "pointing devices" are too heavy for use with dismounted mortar systems. The current systems have high power requirements and need extremely heavy brackets/isolators for shock protection. PM Mortars is seeking a lightweight pointing device that could be used with dismounted mortars as well as be able to replace the pointing systems being employed currently with mounted mortar systems. The system should have a pointing accuracy of 2 mils desired / 4 mils required in azimuth with 1 mil desired / 2 mils required in elevation and roll and provide bidirectional communications to support interface to the mortar fire control computer. The Technical Point of Contact is Mr. Michael Patriarca SFAE-AMO-CAS-MS, E-Mail: mpatria@pica.army.mil, Telephone Number: (973)724-3571.
