Description
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. In mobile military healthcare, first responders and front line clinicians use the Pocket PC Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) in conjunction with Battlefield Medical Information System Telemedicine (BMIST) to provide fast and efficient data entry for combat casualty care. Medics capture data on a Personal Information Carrier (PIC) for maintenance of a longitudinal medical record. The next generation Electronic Medical Record will include a Universal Serial Bus (USB) physical interface. The current PDA ava ilable does not support a USB interface. For future mobile EMRs to be successful, there must be a mobile device that supports this physical interface. According to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, the USB electronic memory device w ill be the joint services standard for physically transmitting clinical encounter information. The U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC) Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) seeks to understand what technologies are currently available or could be available within a reasonable time period and provide the c ombination of a PDA and an integrated USB interface. This device should be capable of running Windows Mobile 2003. Please submit information no later then 21 January 2005. For questions and submission contact: Mr. Mark Jeffrey USAMRMC TATRC (301) 619-7937 Jeffrey@tatrc.org OR Renee Clerici USAMRMC TATRC (301) 619-7922 Clerici@tatrc.org
