- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a purchase order to American Concrete Institute (ACI) to support the Seventh International Symposium on Utilization of High Strength/High Performance Concrete in Washington, DC. The conference will cover structural design, structural research, material research, construction techniques, specifications, and quality control, cost considerations, national reports and case histories. The conference will be of great value and beneficial to FHWA in further understanding and promoting this import technology on an international basis. ACI possesses a combination of resources and experience, which are uniquely suited to this intended cooperation to sponsor the international conference and perform technology transfer in high performance concrete technology. ACI is the only available resource where the combined high strength/high performance concrete expertise can be drawn upon to sponsor this event. Therefore, this is a sole source requirement to ACI and a Simplified Acquisition. The anticipated award date is on or about January 18, 2005
