Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS) has a requirement for aerological sounding balloons for the NWS upper air network. Solicitation DG133W-05-RP-1061 will be issued on or about February 4, 2005 and will close on or about March 7, 2005. Any offeror whose balloons have not passed NWS testing will be required to submit balloon samples with its offer in response to this solicitation. The Government may make multiple awards from the solicitation if beneficial to the Government. The envisioned contract(s) will be made on an indefinite-quantity basis and will be for an ordering period of approximately two years. The solicitation will encompass both GP-26 and HM-30 aerological sounding balloons. The minimum quantity of GP-26 balloons will be 30,000, and the minimum quantity of HM-30 balloons will be 10,000. The Government expects to place orders for the minimum quantities at the time of award of the contract(s). The Government expects award(s) to be made in May 2005 with first balloon deliveries under the contract(s) to be made in August 2005. For the GP-26 balloons, the Government expects deliveries of the minimum quantity of 30,000 balloons to be made in monthly lots of approximately 5,000 balloons over a six-month period (commencing in August 2005). For the minimum quantity of 10,000 HM-30 balloons, the Government expects deliveries to be 5,000 balloons in August 2005 and 5,000 balloons in November 2005. The maximum quantity of GP-26 balloons to be acquired under the solicitation will be 110,000 balloons, and the maximum quantity of HM-30 balloons to be acquired under the solicitation will be 30,000 balloons. Solicitation DG133W-05-RP-1061, including the specification, will be made available via the Internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov . Please monitor the fedbizopps site for release of the solicitation. Small business concerns may obtain a printed copy of the solicitation from the Contracting Officer. Interested parties must respond to the solicitation in order to be considered for award of any resultant contract. See Notes 12 and 26.
