- INVITATION FOR BID FOR A FIRM-FIXED-PRICE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, NASHVILLE DISTRICT TO CONSTRUCT THE EAST BANK APPROACHES FOR A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY BRIDGE AND SINGLE TRACK RAILROAD BRIDGE ACROSS THE TENNESSEE RIVER I MMEDIATELY BELOW KENTUCKY DAM, Grand Rivers, KY. The Corps of Engineers (COE), Nashville District, Nashville, TN intends to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) to 8(a) businesses in Region 4: Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi , Alabama, Georgia, and Florida under NAICS code 237310 Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction. The small business size standard for this requirement is $28.5 million. The estimated value of the contract is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The dura tion of the contract is 15 months. Major components of the East Bank Approaches contract include: 1. Excavation of approximately 300,000 cubic yards of soil 2. Construction of approximately 300,000 cubic yards of highway embankment, 3. Miscellaneous drainage features including riprap ditches and culverts, 4. Miscellaneous roadway construction, 5. Riprap slope protection, 6. Construction of approximately 1500 linear feet of 8 ductile iron water line, 7. Construction of an approximate 10 foot high cantilevered concrete retaining wall 193 feet long, 8. Construction of a 100 foot long cantilevered secant pile retaining wall, and 9. Construction of a two-lane highway bridge over the new railroad alignment. The 63 foot wide highway bridge is 311 fee t long, three span structure with the maximum span being 110 feet long. Its superstructure will consist of 48 pre cast concrete box beams, and its pier and abutment foundations will include 234 -14 concrete friction piles. The bridge will be constructe d at a skew angle of approximately 54 degrees to the railroad alignment. The contractor will be required to provide all plant, labor and materials to construct these features. The solicitation including plans and specifications will be available electron ically only and at no cost from the Nashville Corps of Engineers. Nashville Corps of Engineers solicitation web site may be found at http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/contracting. It is anticipated the solicitation will be issued by 14 February 2005. Inter ested firms must be registered in the Central Contract Register to be awarded a Government Contract. All pertinent information will be posted on the web site. E-mail notification will be sent upon issuance of any amendments to all registered firms. Sinc e e-mail notification may not be reliable based on system constraints, it is recommended that each registered firm check the website daily for updates. Hard copies of the amendments will not be mailed. Telephone requests or e-mails from the contract spec ialist for amendments will not be issued.
