This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by NSWC Crane. The Government requires VRLA battery sets in stainless steel trays. This requirement includes one each Seawolf battery set, one each Los Angeles class battery set (with an option for one each), and one each Ohio Class battery set. The Seawolf battery set consists of two strings of 120 cells, with 120 ?B? cells and 120 ?C? cells. Twenty-four spare cells (12 ?B? cells and 12 ?C? cells) in trays are required for the SEAWOLF battery. The Ohio class battery consists of three strings of 132 cells/string, all ?C? cells. The Ohio class battery will require 24 spare ?C? cells in trays. The two Los Angeles class batteries will consist of two strings of 127 cells/string, all ?C? cells. Twenty-four spare cells in trays will be required with each Los Angeles class battery set. A parts box will also be procured for each battery set. In addition, 12 ?B? cells and 12 ?C? cells in trays are required for life cycling test and will be delivered to NSWC Crane. A firm-fixed price contr! act is anticipated. The Ohio class battery set is required by 10/01/05. The Los Angeles class battery sets are required by 10/01/05 and 5/1/06. The Seawolf battery set is required by 1/1/06. Inspection and acceptance of the batteries will be at origin and delivery will be FOB destination CONUS, with exact location to be determined. The applicable NAICS Classification is 335911 and the size standard is 500 employees. The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate this contract on a sole-source basis with Exide Corporation, d/b/a Exide Technologies, Aurora, IL based on FAR 6.302-1, only one source capable of meeting the Government?s requirements. See Numbered Note 22.
