- The Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Service Center, Albuquerque NM, intends to award a contract to Defense Munitions, LLC, 631 N. Stephanie, Henderson, NV 89014, on a sole source basis. The items to be purchased under this proposed contract will be: 200,000 each, 5.56 BALL linked 1/4 Tracer/ball in 200rd M249 cassettes; 21,000 each, 5.56 AP boxed; 2,000 each, 5.56 AP linked in M249 Cassettes; 85,000 each, 5.56 AP Linked 1/4 Tracer/AP in M249 cassettes; 200,000 each, 7.62x51 BALL linked 1/4 Tracer/ball in 200 rd cans; and 105,000 each, 7.62x51AP Linked 1/4 tracer/AP in 200rd can. Defense Munitions has been determined to be the only company who can meet the needs of the NNSA Service Center. This determination is based on the following requirements: Timely delivery of entire order and no other known responsible source available. This proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This is an intent to award notice, not a request for competitive proposals; therefore, proposals cannot be submitted directly on this notice. Interested parties may provide rationale as to why they should be considered directly to the Contract Specialist. The point of contact for this action is Maria D. Vasquez, telephone (505) 845-4805. Inquiries and comments should be sent electronically to Maria D. Vasquez at mvasquez@doeal.gov no later than 4:00 pm MST, January 23, 2004. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Small Business Preference: NNSA is also a strong advocate for the small business community and interested small businesses/lead teams and joint ventures that qualify as small businesses are encouraged to submit a response to this notice. The NAICS for this effort is 423990 with a size standard of 500 employees.
