Description
The Tank and Automotive Command of the US Army is seeking potential sources to provide comprehensive maintenance, training, and spare parts upon a fleet of Mobile Vehicle Cargo and Inspection Systems (VACIS) currently located in the South West Asian (SWA) theater of operations, to include Afghanistan and Iraq for a 6 month period starting in March 2005. The Mobile VACIS are used to inspect other vehicles and shipping containers for possible contraband, unauthorized personnel or explosives. The proces s of inspection involves the use of X-ray and gamma radiation inspection methods, therefore the source sought will be licensed for work on such equipment by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The International Harvester truck bed that carries the inspecti on equipment is also included in the maintenance plan and the source sought will be responsible for acquiring and providing the necessary spare parts and consumables required for routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs due to break down fo r the truck as well as for the inspection devices and systems. The Mobile VACIS are scattered throughout SWA and movement from one location to another may require armed security escorts. The source sought will be a proven supplier of professional logisti cs services related to nuclear grade equipment and wheeled vehicles and have experience working in a hostile environment with limited or no infrastructure for support. The requiring agency is not in a position to provide technical details regarding either the truck or its inspection system. The source sought will have the proven ability to acquire the correct and necessary information required to fulfill the comprehensive maintenance tasks, the ability to acquire and deliver the necessary parts and consum ables, and the skills and ability required to perform all work on time. The source selected will be required to contact and schedule routine work to be performed with the military units that have control and use of the inspection vehicles. The selected s ource will also receive work orders from units that have experienced unexpected breakdown of equipment and will be required to arrange their own transportation, scheduling, and shipments of parts and replacement equipment required to effect repairs. Inter ested sources should respond to TACOM-RI, AMSTA-LC-CTME, Attn: Ms. Regina Gonzales, Rock Island, IL 61299 or e-mail: gonzalesr@ria.army.mil. In your response, please provide your company name, address, point of contact, phone number, and e-mail address. All responses should be received by 4:00 P.M. CST on 3 February 2005.
