Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Kapteyn-Murnane Laboratories, Inc. of Boulder, Colorado for an ultrafast cavity-dumped Ti:Sapphire laser with the following critical specifications: 1) pulse energies greater than 30 nJ; 2) repetition rates from ~ 100 kHz to 2 MHz; and 3) pulse durations less than 20 fs that can be pumped with our existing 5W doubled Nd: YAG pump laser at 532 nm. Market research has determined that Kapteyn-Murnane Labs is the only vendor who can provide an instrument to meet these specifications. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13.1, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (under $100K). This notice is for information purposes only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
