Description
Change in Scope of work:The two large pine tree?s in the southern-most end of Marshall(adjacent the main gate) are to remain and are not to be removed. Answer to two questions posted during 19 Jan 05 site visit. Question 1. Though the SOW mentioned using chainsaws as the main means of removing / trimming the trees, can the Contractor use a tracked vehicle to shove the dropped trees back into the woods? Answer: A tracked vehicle can be utilized as long as the ground is not wet and the ground is not disturbed (the operator will need to exercise caution when turning). Also, if there is not ample clear space behind the new tree line to receive the downed tree, the tree may have to be de-limbed and then placed behind the new tree line - the Contractor will not be allowed to shove the larger trees into brush piles lining the new tree line or damage the remaining trees behind that new tree line. Question 2. Can the Contractor utilize a shearing machine (forestry mower) to remove the vegetation? If so, does the machine have to have rubber tires or can it be on tracks? Answer: A shearing device (i.e. forestry mower) to cut the trees / undergrowth is an acceptable method for removal. Whether the vehicle utilizes tracks or rubber tires, the ground must not be disturbed (the operator will need to exercise caution when turning). All other terms and conditions remain unchanged. Closing date for all bids is still no later than 1500 hours 2 Feb 2005.
