- Description
- The Department of Defense (DOD) Soldier Systems Center, Natick, Massachusetts seeks information sources for commercial or production ready hand held radios. This equipment is intended to provide a communications capability to CST & WMD incident resp onders donned in fully encapsulated protective gear. These responders must be able to communicate with other responders while performing survey team operations. The Government will review the manufacturer's information to determine if submitters of hand-h eld radios will be invited to participate in a follow-on Government-based assessment. This survey announcement is intended to identify existing equipment (commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items are highly desired) that could be utilized by federal & civil emergency first responders (e.g., National Guard, U.S. Army Reserves, and the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force). There is no commitment on the part of the government to award a contract as a result of the request for information or to pay for t he information received.
