Description
The criteria for the possible replacement of PCA pumps for TRICARE Puget Sound and Alaska is but not limited to the following: must carry a full product line, government pricing, ability to service entire Region (WA and Alaska), must provide customer support (1-800 numbers and product representatives for each account), utilization reports, education programs, clinical support, return goods policy, volume discounts, multimode operation for continuous, PCA continuous, Epidural and PCA, will consider PCA /PCE but not rule out two seperate infusion devices; easily programmed, available documentation flow sheets that reflects the PCA pumps, compact and lightweight, easy retrieval of dosage history/clearing, accomadate syringes and bags, common delivery rates (mL/hr, mg/hr, mcg/hr), ease of use on adults and pediatric patients, mechanism to prevent potential overdose, drug library so the pharmacy and clinicians can tailor their own drugs and drug parameters that match protocols, utilitizes TALLman lettering fo r similiar sounding medications will also consider quality assurance tools to monitor near misses in programming; speed protocals so that standard PCA orders can be pre-programmed to eliminate programming errors with multiple programming input by hand, wir eless capability so that devices once implemented can be uploaded with software changes or pharmacy changes on the fly within the hsopital as well as the capability to track devices by biomed, bar coding of the narcotic so the pump will read the vial of a drug and automatically input the concentration and name of drug to reduce errors, prefilled syringes made either by a third party pharmaceutical company or the vendor for patient safety form batch contamination. Sterile compounding criteria for pharmacies (USP 797) will be required. Companies interested in participating in the evaluation and possible agreement with TRICARE Puget Sound and Alaska for PCA pumps need to reply to this solicitation no later than 16 February 2005. All responses will include co mpany name, POC and POC contact information(it is suggested that you provide more then one POC)and your intent to participate in this standardization initiative.
