SOLICITATION NO: GSWR050044 - REQUEST FOR QUOTATION DATE: 26 January 2005 CLOSING DATE: 09 February 2005 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This document and any incorporated provisions and/or clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2001-27, dated 28 December 2004. This acquisition is unrestricted. The associated NAICS code is 517110 - Wired Telecommunication Carriers, for which the determining size standard is 1500 employees. The U.S. Geological Survey, at the Hawaii Volcano Observatory (HVO) has a requirement for LAN Cabling Upgrade. Scope: Install a new telecommunications cross-connect for network cabling in the HVO computer room (room #133) located on the main floor next to the lobby. The contractor shall furnish and install in the main building two Category 6 4-pair cables in each user room in 2-port boxes via existing empty ?" conduits in the floor slab and basement cable tray from a lockable 19-inch equipment cabinet with three 48-port and Category 6 patch panels, located in the computer room. In the shop building, the contractor shall install four plenum-rated category 6 cables in ?" conduits in 4 user rooms to the equipment cabinet in the computer room. The contractor shall label and test cables to Category 6 standards and provide test-record documents for all cables. Period of Performance: 03/14/2005 to 03/24/2005 Interested concerns are invited to submit quotations for the following requirement. STATEMENT OF WORK CATEGORY 6 CABLES AND ACCESSORIES INSTALL, USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and materials, and cleanup, and any other items necessary for the completion the LAN as outlined below: 1. All cables installed are Category 6. No fiber optic backbone cables are required. In the main building two Category 6 cables in each room to be installed with 2-port surface boxes. The cables connecting the rooms in the shop building (room #A3, A10, A11, and A16) to the cross-connect location must be plenum-rated category 6 cables in order to fit 4 cables in each of the 4 available EMT ?" conduits which run from the shop building to the cable tray in the main building. 2. The computer room is the location for the Category 6 cross-connect. All cables are to be installed via existing ?" conduits from user work areas in the main building and shop building and the basement telecom/UPS room directly to patch panels in a new locking cabinet in the computer room. The cross-connect cabinet is to be installed with one side to the right wall as you enter the computer room from the HVO lobby. No cable trays are required in the hallways. The existing conduits run from all user rooms in both the main building and the shop building to a cable tray located in the basement ceiling near the west wall. The cables can be run in the basement cable tray to the far south end of the basement just under the computer room near the main-floor computer-room doors; a duct from the basement to the computer room provides cable pathway to the computer room false floor. This cable path has plenty of capacity to accommodate all the Category 6 cables needed. As needed, suspend category 6 cables supported with J-hooks or equivalent at six foot intervals. 3. All Category 6 cables installed are to be labeled at both ends with the same unique numbers: at both the user jack (outlet) faceplate or surface box and at the computer room patch panel. 4. All Category 6 cables are to be tested with a Category 6 cable tester and test records for all cables are to be provided to the Government, preferably on CD in text or excel format. 5. Furnish and install a Chatsworth Megaframe Cabinet (M Series, M1130-711) 19" wide with front and rear locking doors in the computer room. The cabinet is to be anchored with four 3/8" threaded rods through the false floor to the concrete slab below. See Cabinet Specifications at the end of this SOW. 6. Furnish and install three RJ45 48-port Category 6 patch panels in the cabinet. 7. Summary of Category 6 cable counts and jack requirements (total of 98 Category 6 user jacks) installed with cable path hardware and rack with three 48-port patch panels.
