Description
The project consists of the contractor cleaning, preparing, priming and the application of a minimum of one prime coat and two coats of special coating material on all exterior metal surfaces of Building No. 101 to include overhead and hangar doors. The work also includes removing all copings, lightning protection devices, etc., to allow for the application of coating under these items and for the edges of the items to be properly coated. All items removed for paint application will be replaced after the completion of painting. All compressible fillers existing under removed items will be removed, disposed of, and replaced with new. The project also consists of initial non-destructive testing of the existing coating after cleaning and preparation to es tablish an average existing coating thickness. Each additional coat of material will also be tested to ensure that the required minimum thickness has been applied. Retesting of items found to be not in compliance with the requirements of the specifications is also included. The project also requires the removal of the metal panel American Flag on the Hangar door truss. These panels will be protected to prevent damage and be securely stored until the coatings on the building are complete and accepted. Once t he coatings are accepted, the America Flag panels shall be replaced. The proposed contract type is firm fixed price. The performance period is 90 calendar days after Notice to Proceed. The dollar magnitude of this project is estimated at between $500,000 a nd $1,000,000. The NAICS code is 238320 with a small business size standard of $12,000,000. A bid bond in the amount of 20% of the total bid price is required. Performance and Payment Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract price are required. The IFB is scheduled to be issued on or around 3 February 2005. A pre bid site visit is scheduled for on or around 17 February 2005 at 9:30 A.M. local time. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
