Description
The U. S. Census Bureau requires a contractor to perform Historian services. We are seeking sources and information related to these requirements ONLY. This is a Request for Information (RFI) Announcement, NOT A SOLICITATION. After consideration of information, comments, and capabilities, a solicitation MAY be issued at a later date. The contractor shall meet all relevant qualifications and perform a variety of requirements related to these historian services. These requirements shall include but not be limited to the following: a) A proven ability to perform the basic requirements of a historian including thorough primary and secondary historical research, including broad knowledge of the holdings of local repositories and relevant electronic data bases, preparing thorough outlines based on the findings and completing thorough, cogent written documentation of the evidence found according to pre-established formats and within pre-established time frames. The output will include chapters of procedural histories, monographs, articles and bullet pointed synopses. b) A proven ability to frame required research, perform necessary research and prepare cogent articles and reports about issues related to censuses and the Census Bureau both historical and current. c) A proven broad understanding of the Census Bureau?s mission and policies, include the decennial and economic census. d) A proven ability to: 1) perform the research specifically required for oral history interviews and prepare effective questions based on the research findings that elicit answers that accurately reflect the interviewee?s thoughts on his/her career and specific events with which he/she is familiar and 2) conduct effective oral history interviews based on this research and review/edit typed interview transcripts. e) A proven ability to review drafts of reports, articles, monographs and studies to determine validity and to perform scholarly editing in a timely fashion. This ability should include editing ? according to the Chicago and Gregg style manuals ? both for usage and content. f) A proven ability to schedule work requirements to meet competing deadlines. g) A proven ability to provide rapid responses to questions and inquiries relating to a myriad of questions and serve as a point of contact for these inquiries.
