- Description
- The U.S. Army RDEC-ARDEC is seeking to identify potential sources for a high- RPM fuze spin stand. Suggestions are welcomed regarding the requirements below and if you feel an on-site visit is necessary due to size of equipment, electrical requirements, or other considerations please make these comments known. Specific requirements for the high-RPM spin stand will be identified in the scope of work for this equipment. The basic requirements are as follows: 1.Spin stand shall be capable of providing up to 100,000 RPM for small caliber test specimens (i.e., fuzes for 25mm, etc.). Also, shall be capable of providing up to 30,000 RPM for larger caliber (i.e., artillery ? approx. 2.5 lbs. Fuze weight). Two separate spindles may be used to meet these requirements. 2.Spinning elements shall be mechanically shielded to provide for operator safety. All removable shields shall include interlocks to preclude operation when not in place. 3.Spindle(s) shall be designed to provide relatively easy installation & removal of test units. 4.Provision shall be included to provide multiple electrical connections from test specimen to outside instrumentation. 5.Spin stand shall be capable of reaching desired RPM rate ?rapidly?. Understanding that it is impossible for a mechanical system to match the acceleration provided in a ballistic environment, this requirement will have some degree of flexibility to compensate for physical limitations. 6.Optional requirements (to be priced separately) ? 1) Optical instrumentation and 2) Strobe (high-speed video to view test item) and other suggested optional features. In addition, the Contractor shall provide on-site installation and setup of machine, initial testing at Picatinny, detailed operating instructions shall be provided, and one or two days? worth of training for Fuze Division personnel. The above are merely basic requirements and should in no way limit the scope of submissions to this office. Commercially available items that are mass producible and lend themselves to automation are preferred. Submissions should include, but not be limited to: A brief cost estimate for purchase of the item as well as any other auxiliary costs, e.g., shipping, training,set-up,etc. Interested parties should also include a brief summary of the company?s capabilities, i.e.; description of facilities, personnel, past production experience and environmental compliance as it relates to the product. Please include whether item could be purchased under a GSA contract (include a contract #). Interested firms should provide the manufacturer?s name, address of production facility, and administrative building, point-of-contact with telephone number and e-mail address for each location, and size of business (small/large). All interested sources must submit details of their capabilities no later than 21 (twenty one) days from date of publication to U.S. Army RDEC-ARDEC, ATTN: C. Scott Lyon (and P. Sinha), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Responses can also be submitted by email to clyon@pica.army.mil and psinha@pica.army.mil. Large files need to be compressed using WinZip (http://www.winzip.com).
