Description: The Department of Commerce / National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to issue a Request for Quotations for electromechanical cable. The electromechanical cable is required to lower various scientific instruments over the side on an oceangoing research vessel. The cable shall be capable of safely lowering an instrument to 6,000 meters water depth in the dynamic environment caused by ship and wave motion, and lowering / raising speeds of 60 meters per minute. All responsible sources may submit a bid for consideration. A request for quotation will be issued approximately 18 February 2005.
