Description

Specialized Support Equipment for the Air Force Subscale Aerial Target (AFSAT) - The Air Armament Center, Air-to-Air Missile Wing, Aerial Targets SPO, Contracts Office, Eglin AFB FL. The specialized support equipment to be used for functional pre-flight checkout during operations of the AFSAT was procured under a competitively awarded contract with Composite Engineering, Inc., using full and open competition procedures. However, the need for additional support equipment for use in AFSAT handling, launch, and recovery, as well as pre-flight checkout has been identified. These items include, but are not limited to, target test sets, engine test cell equipment, Rocket Assisted Take Off (RATO) alignment fixtures, launch rail, center of gravity beam, target lifting slings, water recovery boat saddles, target transport trailers, target maintenance carts, etc. This equipment must be designed to be compatible with the existing AFSAT design and delivery is required NLT 31 March 2006 in order to meet the AFSAT Required Assets Available (RAA) schedule. A Government-owned technical data package of the AFSAT design does not exist to provide interested parties. The appropriate North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this proposed acquisition is 336411 with a size standard of 1,500 employees. Interested parties may submit statements of capability (SOC) demonstrating their ability to design, manufacture, and deliver the required specialized support equipment. Responses are required NLT 15 March 05. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bid, nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach. This Sources Sought Synopsis should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose.
