- Description
- The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the Department of Defense Medical School and Health Sciences University, hereby announces its intent to award a sole source contract to Osvaldo Bustos, M.D. of Edward Martin & Associates, Inc. in Arlington, VA to provide instructional and consultant services to the Graduate School of Nursing. The contractor shall perform the duties of a Course Director for Applied Pathophysiology and course faculty for Anatomy and Cell Biology to nurse anesthetist, family nurse practitioner students and perioperative clinical nurse specialist students. Contractor is accountable to the three masters’ options program directors for course content. At the end of the training, students are expected to be qualified to practice in the clinical setting as Certified Family Nurse Practitioners and Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist. The contractor shall work during the spring and summer 2005 semesters. This non-personal service contract will require the completion of specific tasks and contractor is required to work approximately 1029 hours. The contractor performing the instruction shall posses an MD and practical experience in instructing medical or graduate level sturents in Anatomy and Cell Biology, and Applied Patophysiology. Contractor must have a history of assisting and delivering courses, conducting review sessions and integrating basic science information as it relates to the clinical setting. Contractor must have demonstrated the expertise and ability to communicate the required course material in an effective and efficient manner. Contractor must have demonstrated expertise and the ability to contribute to department and faculy programs. The contractor is required to perform the following duties under the Contracting Officer Representative(COR): 1. Aid and assist in planning, coordinating and preparing instractional materials, delivering lectures of at least 50% of Pathophysiology course, preparing and administering exams, quizzes and Blackboard testing, and provide student couseling and remediation; 2. Assist with teaching anatomy lab; 3. Participate in preplanning meetings; 4. Organize schedules and course syllabus; 5. Coordinate guest lecture speakers; and 6. Scope of work to include consultant to other Course Directors for incorporation of virtual reality technology in the teaching methods. The statutory authority permitting this award under other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304 (C)(1), as cited in FAR 6.302-1 that authorizes USUHS to award contracts when there is only one resposible source or service that will satisfy agency requirements.
