Description

Project DC PLH-14(3) consists of correcting signage deficiencies on Interstate 395 (I-395), between the DC Jurisdictional Line on the 14th Street Bridge and New York Avenue, Washington, DC. The primary project limits on I-395 in the 14th Street Bridge Corridor extend from the DC Jurisdictional line to Maine Avenue; and consists of installation, modification, removal and replacement of traffic signs (roadside and overhead), cantilever sign structures, and overhead sign bridges to meet the current standards and principles of the MUTCD for enhancing the safety of the traveling public. Electrical connections, including conduit and wiring, will be needed at all new sign structure locations. The secondary project limits on I-395 extend from Maine Avenue to New York Avenue and addresses over-height vehicle signing, for vehicles approaching and traveling in the National Mall tunnel. Again these signs are proposed to meet the current standards and principles of the MUTCD. Traffic control will be very important during construction of this project, and will most likely include night work.
