Description

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Highland Drive Campus, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 intends to negotiate with Gusmer Corporation, One Gusmer Drive, Lakewood, NJ 08701 on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 for the purchase of the Rimcell C Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) Metering Machine consisting of 100 lbs. per minute machine at a ratio of 1:1, base unit with electric console, remote station w/99 shot memory, tank stand, mixhead hose package ??, mixhead power system, mixhead self cleaning. Options to include boom, autofill control, autofill transfer pump, enhanced temperature control, air operated tank agitator, 3-ton water chiller with kit, installation, training and crating. Due to space, power and flow requirements the following specifications are required: 206 volts or 230 volts 3 phase power, size restriction is less than 56 inches wide, flow restrictions of product to meet minimum flow of less than or equal to 20 lb/min. and maximum flow of greater than 90 lb/min. Machine is to be used for prototyping and small production runs for research and development projects. This machine will be used to develop state of the art assistive technology devices (wheelchairs, wheelchair cushions, prosthetic components) and research tools. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333220. Firms who wish to identify their interest and capability to provide an alternate system which will meet the capabilities and functionality described above may notify the Contracting Officer in writing, no later than 4:00 PM on 2/25/05. Such notification must include a complete description of proposed equipment, including narrative and specifications, and must demonstrate that it meets or exceeds the capabilities described above. Notification shall be mailed to Cheryl Weidner (04A1-H), Contracting Officer, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Upon receipt of any such notifications, the Contracting Officer will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with sole source negotiations. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals.
