- Description
- RDECOM-ARDEC?s involvement in the Army?s Future Combat System (FCS) Munitions Systems, and the next generation of advanced armament systems will require smart, miniature and complex fuzing systems which need to be integrated with multi-mode warheads, seekers, sensors and guidance systems. To support this involvement, RDECOM-ARDEC requires the services of a contractor having extensive experience and background in the design, fabrication and testing of small dense packaging of complex mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic systems subject to extreme environments (i.e., simultaneous high ?G?, high pressure, and high temperature environments resulting from tank cannon gun launch) with a high flight functioning reliability. The contractor is also required to have broad and extensive experience in the area of mechanical and electronic fuze items/devices related to Safe and Arm (S&A), Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS),Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Global Positioning (GPS) System Receivers, and ?gun-hardened? components/devices (as related to cannon fired munitions, allowing these munitions to match the system?s required capability). This capability must be under the contractor?s direct control or contractor must have an established agreement with a teaming member. RDECOM-ARDEC?s Line of Sight/Beyond Line of Sight (LOS/BLOS) Munitions Branch has ongoing programs for the development of munition concepts to advance the performance capabilities as well as the producibility of items related to various gun launched munitions. This program is to emphasize the exploration of and exploitation of the many mechanical, electronics, electrical, electromechanical and Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS), and Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, technologies (both proven and promising) as they would apply to gun launched munitions. This contract effort will provide flexibility for RDECOM-ARDEC to leverage industry capabilities on many design, engineering, prototype manufacturing and manufacturing technology efforts.
