Description
The Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to enter into negotiations with current members of the Cancer Genetics Network (CGN), which includes the eight CGN Participating Centers (PC) and their associated sites (S), referred to collective as the PC&S and the three CGN Informatics Technology Group (ITG). The current members of the CGN are as follows: University of California at Irvine, Irvine, California Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. University of Washington, Seattle, Washington Duke University, Durham, North Carolina University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Baylor University, Waco, Texas University of Texas ? Southwest, Dallas, Texas University of Texas - San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico The CGN is an NCI-sponsored research infrastructure comprising a multi-site registry of persons with cancer or at high risk of cancer and their families for investigations on the genetics of cancer and other related issues. Currently, the CGN has over 24,000 enrollees in its recruitment pool, representing more than 16,000 families on whom a wide variety of data have been collected, including biospecimens on some. The NCI wishes to maintain the integrity of the CGN enrollee pool as well as the functions performed by the CGN which maintain that enrollee?s pool and its annual follow-up. Furthermore, inherent duplication of cost to the Government and unacceptable delays in fulfilling this requirement makes competition (with the exception of those identified above as members of the CGN) unfeasible for the acquisition. NCI will award a contract to only one (1) of the current members of the CGN and that awardee will function as the Statistical Coordinating Center (SCC) which will manage the CGN sites? and the Software Center subcontracts. The SCC will be required to complete the majority of tasks requested. The SCC will unify the CGN Core Database and the CGN Special Studies database into one (unified) CGN enrollee database. The CGN enrollee database will need to be maintained. Tasks associated with its maintenance include monitoring and quality control of annual follow-up at each CGN site. The anticipated award date for this acquisition is December 31, 2005 for a period of five years. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as set forth in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 6.302-1(a)2. SEE NUMBERED NOTE 22.
