Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources for a hand-held portable metal analyzer. Recent events have shown the need to determine the composition of existing inventory of raw materials with minimal processing and also inspect incoming raw materials when they are received at ARDEC?s Prototyping Center. The successful integration of a portable, handheld, analyzer will support many prototyping projects that require exact materials with material inspection. The anticipated effort is for the contractor to deliver portable metal analyzer using state-of-the-art spectrographic capability. This equipment shall be provided as a commercial off- the-shelf product and will be used by the government to determine the composition of metallic raw materials. The equipment shall be delivered as a traditional commercial product, with standard operating instructions provided for the equipment. The equipment will require no extensive design or modification for delivery to the Government. The contractor shall provide a spectroscopic analyzer with the following performance characteristics: The equipment shall be a hand-held spectroscopic analyzer that is capable of identifying the composition of Aluminum alloys (1XXX, 2XXX, 3XXX, 4XXX, 5XXX, 6XXX, 7XXX), Steel Alloys (10XX, 41XX, 43XX, 10LXX, 40XX, 86XX, 416, 316, 304, 17-4, 17-7, 321), Titanium Alloys (CP, 6-4, 6- 6-2, 6-2-4-2), Copper Alloys (CuBe, CuBi, Navel Bronze, P Bronze, Cu-pure). The equipment shall be capable of performing elemental analysis to an accuracy of +/- 0.5 wt %. The equipment shall be capable of performing analysis, recording a result, and displaying a result within 120 seconds of sampling. The equipment shall be capable of data acquisition and storage up to 1 MB of information. The equipment shall be outfitted with data transfer capability to a personal computer. The equipment shall weigh no more that 15 lbs, be man-portable, hand- held, and capable of four hours continuous operation. The equipment shall not contain any radioactive components or utilize X-ray technologies to analyze materials. The contractor shall provide training in the operation, and calibration to ARDEC Prototype center employees for the equipment supplied. The contractor shall also offer a one-year warranty on parts and service as well as a multi- year warranty on parts and service. The contractor shall provide spare parts/consumables typically required for testing 2000 samples under normal operating conditions. The contractor shall be able to provide the required equipment within two months of contract award. Any interested sources shall submit their product brochure listing product specifications and warranty plans electronically to Mr. Kevin Puma, kpuma@pica.army.mil or Mail to: Mr. Kevin Puma, US Army, TACOM-Picatinny, AMSTA- AQ-APE, Picatinny, NJ 07860-5000.
