Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, intends to award a contract for the rehabilitation of the 100-ton intake deck gantry crane at The Dalles Dam located on the Columbia River near The Dalles, Oregon. The rehabilitation work includes, but is not limited to, rebuilding the gantry trucks, providing a new auxiliary trolley drive, providing new bearings and seals, replacing all electrical equipment and controls, replacing the hammerhead circular rail, and painting the entire crane. The ne w hoist and travel drives will be variable frequency drives. . The crane will be available to the Contractor starting in April 2006 and must be fully operational no later than August 2006. The estimated cost range of the specified work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Invitation for Bid will be available on o r about May 11, 2005 with a tentative bid opening on or about June 25, 2005 or 45 days after issue. The contact is anticipated to be awarded in July 2005 and has a total contract period of approximately 14 months. The successful low bidder must have a mi nimum of 5 years prior experience in rehabilitating furbishing cranes of similar size and complexity. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District. For this project the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work with simil ar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have other duties for this work that include being the Contractor on-site Project Manager and/or the on-site CQC Manager or other responsi ble individual. This procurement is open to both small and large business concerns.
