Description

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a delivery order for the effort required to upgrade the Common Missile Acceptance Test Set (CMATS) Radio Frequency Interface Unit (RFIU). The RFIU is currently used in conjunction with the CMATS-AS (Anti Ship) to provide acceptance testing of the Tomahawk Block II/III Range Safey System (RSS) and Recovery Exercise Modules (REM) in Tomahawk Missiles. CMATS-AS has been identified as an obsolete test system which will become unsupportable in the year 2005. In addition, a new CMATS-LA will be modified to interface with the upgraded RFIU to support testing of REM for 109A and 109C missiles as well as 109C and 109D RSS. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to Raytheon Systems Company (RSC), P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734-1337. Raytheon is the only company capable of performing this effort. Since 1994, RSC has been the sole developer, designer, and manufacturer for the Tomahawk All-Up-Round (AUR). RSC solely possesses the current configuration and manufacturing data for the Tactical Tomahawk missile. RSC currently manages the key requirements, interface, integration, and verification documents for the Tomahawk Weapons System. Because a detailed knowledge and expertise of the Tactical Tomahawk missile is required to perform this effort, RSC is the only source capable of accomplishing these requirements in the required timeframe and without duplication of costs.
