Description

WBVAMC requires professional services of a board certified or eligible oral / maxillofacial surgeon, approximately 8 hours per week and on-call for the emergency room. Surgeon will provide services in the dental clinic with local anesthesia and nitrous, as well as services in the OR with concious IV sedation and general anesthesia provided by the anesthesiologist. Patient population is medically stable to significantly medically compromised adult patients. Surgical assistant staff, materials, and equipment are provided. Procedures include dental extractions, endosseous dental implant placement, alveoloplasty, vestibuloplasty, frenectomies, bone grafting, open- and closed reductions of facial fractures, TMJ evaluation and treatment, and in- and outpatient consultations. Dental resident training involves one or two residents annually. Participation in resident education, both clinical and didactic instruction, is required.
