Description

ACTION: Sole Source Announcement CONTACT: Melissa V. Lucas This announcement was previously advertised under solicitation number 05ER08. The description changed to correct the classification code. The U.S. Geological Survey, Coastal and Marine Geology Program, in Woods Hole, MA intends to make award of a noncompetitive procurement to Plastic Concepts Corporation to construct cabinetry and safety accessories for the clean room laboratory used for research and instrumentation. Delivery Terms: 10-12 Weeks ARO. The clean room will be used for sample preparation, experimental work, and digestions of pore waters, sediments, and suspended solids. The room will also provide an environment appropriate for experimental work on solid-solution partitioning, aqueous phases, and biological uptake. Plastic Concepts, Inc., is the manufacturer of the hoods currently in place in the lab and they are the current manufacturer of all clean room hoods and cabinets at the Woods hole Oceanographic campus. They are the only company making completely plastic/polypropylene hoods and cabinets for use in low-level contaminant labs. The plastic is vital to prevent acid corrosion over time. Plastic Concepts offers unique and essential qualifications in the following areas considered essential to the requirements: 1. Plastic Concepts is a local, dedicated small business. The North Billerica office has three employees that take orders, do site visits and market to the local science community. 2. Plastic Concepts is the only company building completely plastic cabinetry and equipment for use in corrosive environments. There is no written solicitation for this requirement. It is coded 05ER09NoSolicitation. This award will be made on or about February 25, 2005. The NAICS code for the acquisition is 326191. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Responses to this notice must be submitted via email to: mlucas@usgs.gov by February 23, 2005.
